Love x Michi

Hi hi Lovelies! It took me a while to finally have some time to blog about our Winter Wonderfest adventure. I tried to take as many pictures as I could, but I didn't bring my camera, only my phone, so the pictures aren't in the best quality, especially with the lighting. BUT! We did have TONS of fun! We saw so many magically decorated trees. One in particular was my ABSOLUTE favorite!

Can you guess why? Yep, that's right. TIFFANY!!! "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is one of my all-time favorite movies. I la-la-love Audrey Hepburn. She is my idol. She's beautiful and talented and her style! It's classy glam all around.

The kids had fun playing around the place with their neat carnival rides and inflatable slides. Unfortunately we didn't ride any of the carnival rides. The line for the ferris wheel was insane (for being a Friday afternoon) and Ethan and I are just crazy motion sick for the other stuff. But we did take advantage of all the monster slides! There was also a cool tube hill that was a lot of fun. We tried ice skating, but Reesie wasn't having it and Ethan was just having a hard time. In my opinion, my blades weren't sharpened enough so even I didn't enjoy it too much. (I should have just brought my own ice skates but I haven't sharpened those blades in a while.)

(Some quick scenes of the "town" on the train ride!)

(Look J! Tropical themed! ^_^)

Generally, it was an amazing time. It was just so magical and beautiful. They had a cute little show and the train ride was pretty neat. Their kiddie area was a lot of fun too. Reesie had a blast there. She loves the merry-go-round! It was a great adventure to take the kids on. I wish I had better pictures!

It was a great inspiration for our own Christmas tree at home. Originally I wanted something Frozen themed. Reesie loves the movie so much that at one point we had it on repeat the whole day. And my dream tree would be of course the Tiffany tree I took a picture of at Winter Wonderfest. So, the kids and I went to Hobby Lobby (one of my favorite stores ever in life!). Hobby Lobby has great sales for the holidays. There was 50% off going on, so I thought to take advantage of that and get our ornaments and decorations. Unfortunately because we'd gone so late, a lot of their packaged ornaments were all gone. We didn't really have much to choose from. So I went with a more traditional theme.

Not so bad right? Heheh. Ethan really wanted these neat black and silver ornaments with fancy designs on it, but it wasn't appropriate I thought. I told him next year when we can get a smaller white tree for his room (because I love Christmas so much EVERY room in the house should have a tree!).

Because there wasn't much packaged ornaments left, I decided to fill in the gaps with Christmas floral which was also 50% off. Our tree isn't very full so there were a lot of gaps that needed to be filled. I decided to use the thick ribbon as garland to hide most of the gaps and the floral pieces everywhere else and work the ornament balls around the rest of the area. The kids had fun helping me put everything together.

And don't forget MICKEY MOUSE! I've had this ornament for about 3 years now, but this is the first time I get to actually use it. Last Christmas, our theme was green (my mom's favorite color so all her ornaments she bought were green) and poor Mickey was in storage. The year before that we had a little tree and it was just way too big to put it on. But this year he made it on the tree right in the middle where everyone can see! I'm so happy!

I told the kids, while we were at the store, that they could pick out one ornament that they liked as their special addition to our tree. I'm not sure Reesie understood what I was talking about, but she picked an ornament nonetheless. Ethan had a little bit of a hard time finding something he liked and I told him that he could pick one of the most important parts of the tree: the tree topper. So, this is what they picked out.

Reesie is super adorable. Of course she would pick an ice cream cone ornament with candy in it. She loves her ice cream! I still want to find a better ornament for Ethan, something that represents him more, just like Reesie's ice cream cone represents something she loves. I'm thinking of finding Minecraft ornaments on Etsy or making something? I'm not sure yet. But there's time for that. If I can't find something by this Christmas, I have all of next year to find a good one.

On Monday we went out to Royal Buffet for dinner for my mother-in-law's early birthday celebration.

I love the fact that they picked Royal Buffet because they have really great food there. Their sushi is amazing, their hibachi is yummy, they have steamed buns, a few selections of dim sum, crab legs for days, and awesome dessert! They have crepes and I love crepes!

AND COTTON CANDY!!!

During the weekends they have creme brûlée and that is one of my favorite desserts. I just love desserts in general!

It was a fun time with great food and great company. Reesie was trying to use chopsticks, Ethan really liked their chocolate fondu fountain, and the hubby ate his weight in crab legs hahahaha! I was so stuffed afterwards I didn't want to move!

December so far as been fun fun times. Stay tuned for my review on my Coastal Scents haul!

I can't wait for that because *dun dun dun* I am going to be uploading my first video on YouTube! Hopefully. I just recently discovered that my new MacBook Pro does not have iMovie on it and it's $14.99. My old one does, but the iOS is so outdated I can't do anything but write my stories on it. So we shall see. If anything, of course it will be blogged.

Until then, Lovelies!

Love sincerely,

Mich <3

I had a lot of fun shopping around for card stock and stickers and other supplies for my new Erin Condren planner. I haven't decorated a planner in a long time! Back in high school it was almost mandatory for a(n Asian) girl to have a Sanrio planner. Preferably in the leather casing. We bought stickers and paper and pens and all kinds of stuff for it. One of my best friends, Asako, would give me a bunch of cute anime stuff to put in it. I wish I still had it honestly. I'm sure I have one or two lying around in a box somewhere hehe. This time I wanted something a little more "mature" but still super adorable. The Erin Condren Life Planner was absolutely perfect albeit a little on the pricey side. I wanted to try it out anyway. And I must say I absolutely love it!

(original layout of the first week of December)

(my organized chaos!)

It was so much easier planning it out in my head than it was to actually put together lol. I ran into a few road bumps but all in all, for my first time, I'm very pleased with it. Thank you to Pinterest and Belinda Selene (www.belindaselene.com) for the great ideas and tips. I'll be slowly collecting a bunch of stuff to stick in it as the months pass by! My life isn't very eventful but there are a lot of things I have to remember and I am all about time management. I want to be time effective. Using time wisely and being very organized is very important to me. And now I can do it in a very cute way!

I like to work in themes most of the time. And I love Christmas! So what better theme than Christmas? For my first week I kept it fun with the card stock borders because of the fun day I am going to have on Friday. For week 2, I was inspired by Hobby Lobby's vast array of Christmas decorations, one which I thought was fascinating. PASTEL CANDIES AND DESSERTS. It was weird to see actually, because it looked more like Christmas in Candyland than an actual set of Christmas decorations, but I love pastels and I thought it was cute. I didn't have anything glittery or cupcake-y to use, but I had pink card stock and pink polka dotted washi tape. Week 3 has the first day of winter on it so I went with a "Let it Snow" theme. And week 4 obviously is Christmas where I had a lot of fun putting all those fun stickers everywhere.

(dashboard side 1)

(dashboard side 2)

To be honest, I wasn't sure if I wanted a dashboard. It's a cute little addition to the book, but I thought it might take up more space than necessary. But as I was going through December, I noticed that there were a couple dates I had forgotten to pen in and I found myself digging through my box of supplies. I thought to myself, oh why not?! It'll look cute and it's functional. I added a few foam stickers to fill in the spaces. And even if I don't use them all, I can always peel off what I haven't used and add it to the next themed dashboard. It actually came in very handy today at work when I thought of a few things I needed to jot down! I'm happy I did it last minute.

Sorry for the bad lighting. I just wanted to snap a bunch of pictures before work and I'm sure I forgot a few important dates like my son's Taekwondo belt testing and holiday party. I hope it inspires you to be just as creative and to have fun with life!

EDIT: I am obsessed with quotes which was another deciding factor in why I bought the Erin Condren Life Planner. But while I was busy planning out my layouts for December's pages, it didn't occur to me that I would be covering up the quote in the month page. I am a little sad about that and will be thinking of better ways to incorporate the quote for the month of January ^_^

I took a step back from putting the finishing touches on my planner today. I'm very organized and I'm all about time management. I take my time very seriously. With kids, dogs, a husband, work, and friends, I have to slip in there time to clean and cook, do the laundry, and run errands. Then there's whatever else I want to do, like concoct ideas for my writing, this blog, trying to start up my vlog on YouTube, read a good book (I'm always up for suggestions!), doing something crafty, or just watching a movie. (Redbox I apologize for yet again having a movie for a good 2 weeks >_<).

I can usually time manage in my head, but I like to leave myself little notes just in case. Hence why my planner is such a very important part of my daily life. I have so many things going on that I will forget something. I always do.

Anyway, I'm usually very good at managing my time. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday however have really thrown a snag into my time. Despite everything I had to do today before work (which worked out very well actually) my concern was Friday and Saturday. Friday both the hubby and I are off so we decided to take the kids (really it's mostly for our eldest) to Navy Pier for Winter Wonderfest. Friday night is my salon's informal-fun-night-out Christmas party. Saturday I work 11a-7p. And I had signed up to bring treats that same Saturday. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out where to slip in time to bake these treats! Thursday night was a no-go I thought, simply because I close at the salon and I still had to pick up my daughter from my babysitter's. I wasn't going to be home til 11p. That and I wanted my "famous" chocolate chip cookies to be as fresh as possible for Saturday. Friday was definitely a no-go. My whole day was full. Saturday I wouldn't have the time unless I woke up at 4am and that was DEFINITELY not going to happen because of the Christmas party.

I did my best to come up with a good solution. In the end, I thought of none.

The only time I would have to achieve baking enough cookies to share with clients and my stylists was to do it Thursday night. As I write this it is 3:37am. I'm sure by the time I publish this entry with pictures it'll be past 4am. And that's ok. Because the cookies look amazing and they taste even better.

This is how I spent my Thursday night ^_^

3 batches of cookies. I made them as small as possible to share with clients. Hopefully I made enough ;P I'm a little bit of an overachiever when it comes to the things that are very important to me. Everyone who has ever tried these cookies loves them, so much so they are very important to me. I tried to make enough to share with everyone. I can't make an estimate on how many clients will come into the salon between 8am-8pm on Saturday, and I honestly don't know how many cookies my coworkers are going to eat. I just wanted to make sure I had enough. I made 4 batches for my daughter's baby shower, but I had to bake them at the clubhouse we held it at because I had run out of time and they were gone as I pulled them out of the oven (I had almost 150 guests!) Needless to say, I'm hoping for a good turn out ^_^ All I really care about is that everyone who eats them enjoys them. I enjoy baking them (baking in general!) and I hand mix everything very carefully. The secret ingredient is love (hahaha corny!)

(do you think I made enough for everyone?)

(lol overachiever award! this pan is approx 4 inches tall)

Again, I apologize for the bad lighting. The lighting in our dining room is terrible and I've been meaning to go to Ikea to pick up another lamp.

Currently at 4:02am I have one last set of cookies baking. FINALLY! Time to get what little sleep I can before our fun filled family day and my Christmas party! G'nite lovelies.

Love sincerely,

Mich

Hello lovelies! I've been meaning to make more time for blogging and vlogging. It's been something I've been meaning to do for a long time now, but something always comes up. So let's start first with this since it is a little easier for me. Between being a wife and mommy of 2 children and 2 fur babies, a career girl, and a glamous puss (hehehe) it's difficult to have down time. Someone is always yelling for me for something. But here it is, my comeback! I think now is time to really give this rolling ball a hard shove!

First of all, LOOK AT MY HAIR! I went from being bland and dark to copper and now to blond balayage! I still kept some of the copper (6 CB to be somewhat accurate for those who understand lol), but I made it a point that I wanted to try blond for once. I love it! Thank you to my ASL (Assistant Salon Leader) Chelsea for applying and putting up with my pain in the butt hair hahaha. The first time I went copper it took 4 applications and 2 months to get it where we imagined it. This time it took 2 applications and 2 days. It was well worth it!

The problem being in this beauty industry is always seeing different people doing different things and it makes you want different all the time. But we have to be really careful with our hair. It's all we have! We don't want to over-process it and fry it off or cut too much because hair doesn't grow an inch a week (unfortunately). But I'm happy so far. Not going back dark any time soon! And I highly doubt that I'm brave enough to chop it off again. It took 3 years and a pregnancy during to grow it back this long. I'm kind of very attached to it :P

Second of all, happy (belated) birthday to me! I love birthdays. Fun, food, cake, and presents! Ok, ok, it's not about the presents hehehe but I do love when Sephora gives me cute little giveaways for it! I went into Sephora thinking all I was going to do was pick it up, but I've been on the market for a very good foundation and mascara. I love MAC, but my problem is always matching tone. I don't want my face to be as dark as my neck because honestly with my skin tone, I end up looking orange and I'm not a big fan of looking like an Oompa Loompa. So I went into Sephora to get my Makeup Forever birthday sample and came out with Benefit Hello Flawless powder foundation compact.

Can I say how much I LOVE it? It's in cute packaging and I adore cute packaging. I'm drawn to a lot of things in cute packaging no matter what's inside. It's simple, but functional. It comes with a sponge applicator and a brush for 2 different finishes and I really really like that about it. It's a very silky finish even without a liquid foundation and it doesn't feel heavy on my face. The coverage is great for me even if I prefer always having a liquid finish. I can use the sponge when I first apply it in the morning when I get ready and use the brush throughout the day to touch up. (I do use a face primer -- by Elf -- before I put it on also). I'm very curious about their liquid foundation. I haven't used it before but if it finishes as well as the powder I'm all for it!

I haven't yet tried the lipstick and mascara in the Makeup Forever birthday sample, but the color of the lipstick looks so pretty! I can't wait to try it.

Third, MY ERIN CONDREN LIFE PLANNER HAS ARRIVED!!

Ok, ok. I splurged. A little bit. A LOT. I have to admit, I almost didn't order it due to the price. It's a very expensive planner. But I looked at it like this: She put so much time into putting this together, designing it and making it look cute, coming up with functional ways for us to customize it. Yes, it was expensive for a planner. But I decided to treat myself and let my creativity flow. I've spent lots of money on cute Sanrio planners and stickers and pens and really ANYTHING Sanrio. I carried planners around in high school (it was a HUGE thing back then!). I had everything in it, money, cards, stickers, all sorts of things to make it mine and customize it the way I wanted it. And as much as I still love Sanrio, I was thinking of carrying around a planner a little bit bigger and a little bit more "mature." I'm 31 after all even if I don't look it or act old. So, here it is!

I wish I remembered to specify a font for my name, but I am overall pleased with it. It looks like a basic planner, sure, but it's big enough for me to modify to my own taste and style and to write everything I need to (even if my life isn't very eventful lol). I'm really excited to decorate it! I still need more supplies from Hobby Lobby and Michael's and JoAnn Fabric, but I'll get there slowly but surely. I was able to buy a lot of cute Christmas ribbon from Target's Dollar Spot and a couple note pads and things. All I have to do now is put it all together! That probably won't happen until next week, but as soon as I have it done I will post pictures on my Instagram! (lovexmichi)

(We've got ears! Say cheers! I'm a HUGE Disney fan! ^_^)

I also got these really cute tin buckets. They're small but they're super adorable and in one of my favorite colors Tiffany blue-green! I'm still waiting *ahem*ahem* for my makeup brushes. I asked the hubby for a set either from Coastal Scents or Morphe Brushes but I haven't ordered any yet. I'm still trying to decide which one I want it from still.

I am super excited to rebuild my makeup collection. I'd gotten a little careless collecting makeup from anywhere and everywhere, just playing around with it and testing them out. I ended up giving all the stuff I didn't want to my dad to bring back with him to the Philippines which diminished my collection by a lot. Which is ok. I was glad to help out. Now I'm looking more into the quality of it rather than the color or brand. I've used all sorts of brands from drug store to high end, and honestly so long as the quality is great, it doesn't really matter from where you buy it. There are a lot of girls who either love drug store brands just because they do or they don't have the funds to be buying a $60 pallet from a department store. Understandable. What works for me might not work for someone else. Everyone is different and unique and that's the best part about testing out different kinds of makeup and reviewing them. But even with my review, it could work differently for someone else. It's all just opinion.

I am currently loving NYX lipsticks. All of it. Their Butter Gloss, Butter Lipstick, Soft Matte Lip Cream, Xtreme Shine Lip Cream, their regular lipstick... ALL OF IT!!! It's just simply amazing. The consistency, the colors, everything is just fantastic. It's so vibrant! I can't wait to pick up more colors to add to my collection. I only picked up the colors that I would wear on a daily basis. And unfortunately due to my skin tone, it's hard to find the right pinks and neutrals to use without it blending in with my face or looking way too light for me, but that's ok. I'm always up for trying out a bunch of different colors!

(sorry for the bad lighting lol)

I'm hoping to continue blogging more often about fashion and beauty, one of my favorite things to do. Reading and writing are also a huge part of my life, as is decorating and crafts. I can't wait to do more blogs on everything I love! Again, thank you for following me on my journey even if it's been slow. The journey is a part of the fun of getting to your destination! I cannot wait to share my thoughts with you!

Love sincerely,

Mich
